Subject: First Meeting of the Annual Conference

             Sub-Committee

Mr. Ahmed Bilal Mahboob could not attend the meeting due to other pressing commitment.

 

After the opening remarks of the chair, Mr Daniyal Aziz was requested to give his views on program and budget allocated for the purpose. Mr. Daniyal Aziz explained in detail about the different component of the budget allocated for holding of the conference. He further briefed the participants that GINI apart from other will also facilitate and coordinate as conference secretariat. All the members have shown their satisfaction on the budge.

 

All items of the agenda were taken one by one. After lively discussion on each item of the agenda by the members of the sub-committee the following decisions were taken:-

  1. The annual conference will be held either from 10 -12 December or 17 – 19 December of this year. This mega event will be for two days which can be extended for another half day.
     
  2. Mr. Aayaz will prepare dummy calendar for the conference and will also prepare schedule of the meeting indicating sessions, speakers, time allocation to each speaker , panel reporters etc . This will be circulated among the members with two options upto April 22, 2009.
     
  3. The conference will be held either in Lahore or Islamabad. The venue for holding the conference at Islamabad will be explored by Prof. Ovais Mustaq and Mr. Aayaz and for Lahore Dr. Saeed Shafqat and Ms. Farzana Shahid.
     
  4. The possible venue can be a university, hotel or any other suitable place keeping in view , security arrangements, availability of logistics support as the conference will be attended by senior government officials, academia ions, parliamentarian, senior members of civil society, NGO’s, media men, besides our network members, our international partners from NIBR , OSLO university and others.
     
  5. The decision about the place for holding conference and its venue will be taken in the next meeting after getting the requisite information from the above members.
     
  6. The feed back from others committees be obtained before workshop which is going to be held on 11-12 May, 2009. In the next meeting proposals be firmed for presenting in the workshop. The theme and topics will be proposed in the next meeting which may be broader in perspective and Pakistan specific.
     
  7. A tentative list of invitees and speakers of the conference may be prepared. Each member should bring a list of invitees and GINI has also such list. Pool these lists and then a final list will be prepared.
     
  8. The next meeting will be held on 29-04 -2009 from 1000 to 1400 hours at FC College University lahore to firm up the proposals for presentation in the workshop.
